The retelling will have new characters.
The reinterpretation of “Reborn” will have numerous changes in relation to the original version, from 1993. The first phase is expected to 12 chapterswhile the original version continued until the fifth chapter, when there was a passage of time.
Because of this, some new characters will appear. Maria Fernanda Cândido will play a new character, a woman called Cândida. She will be an ally of José Inocêncio (Humberto Carrão). It also has Colonel Firmino, played by Enrique Diaz.
The character Buba was changed in the new version. In the original, she was intersex (the term used at the time was hermaphrodite). This time, she will be a trans woman.
Father Lívio, a notable character in the second phase of the soap opera, this time will be an evangelical pastor, played by Breno da Matta. The change will impact the character’s plot, who in the first version experiences a dilemma when he falls in love with Joaninha and is celibate.
The new version of the soap opera will not feature detective Egberto, played by José de Abreu in 1993. In his place, there will be a new character, Eriberto, who will mark Pedro Neschling’s return to the soap operas. He will be a partner of José Venâncio (Rodrigo Simas) and will fall in love with Eliana (Sophie Charlotte), his friend’s wife.
José Inocêncio’s trusted employee in the second phase, Zinho Jupará, played by Cosme dos Santos in 1993, will not be in the new version. In his place is Zinha Jupará, played by Samantha Jones.
The big villain of the second phase, Teodoro, played by Herson Capri in 1993, will now be called Egídio. Vladimir Brichta will be the interpreter.
“Renascer” began recording this week in Rio de Janeiro, after a month of recording in Ihéus, Bahia. The work is a reinterpretation of Benedito Ruy Barbosa’s 1993 hit. The cast also includes names such as Marcos Palmeira, Juan Paiva, Theresa Fonseca, Duda Santos, Antonio Calloni, Jackson Antunes, Almir Sater, Matheus Nachtergaele, Adanilo, Ana Cecília Costa, Fábio Lago, Marcello Melo Jr, Chico Diaz and more.
With a forecast of 197 chapters, “Renascer” will replace “Terra e Paixão” from January 22, 2024 and will remain on air until September 27.
