Resuming in person format, event will have 100% of income reverted to Hospital de Amor de Barretos
The 16th Novais Right to Live Auction is scheduled to take place on the 17th and 18th of September. The event attracts people from all over the region and 100% of the proceeds go to the Hospital de Amor de Barretos.
In 2022, the auction will be held in person again, as due to the covid-19 pandemic, the organization chose to hold two online editions in 2020 and 2021.
The event coordinator, Giselha Ap. Freschi Cruz, who has been at the head of the organization since 2018, is looking forward to seeing up close the audience that has been attending the event year after year in Novais.
“The event this year will be 16 years old, I have always been present, helping and collaborating, but always thinking that I could do more for the hospital. I have visited the Hospital de Amor countless times and in the opportunities I had, I visited some pavilions and observed how important it is to help”, says Giselha.
Giselha App. Freschi Cruz has been coordinating the event since 2018, but has always been helping and collaborating with the cause.
Giselha is in charge of coordination together with her brother Douglas and a large team of volunteers. “In 2018 and 2019 we did the face-to-face events and had great results, so this made us even more motivated to continue promoting [o leilão]. In 2020 and 2021 we had to reinvent ourselves, because we couldn’t help but help. We knew about the difficulties of the hospital and what they were going through, so we made a virtual event that was also a success”, he recalls.
According to Giselha, the event is programmed together. Several meetings are held between coordinators and volunteers to decide on all the details. “We started the party from scratch, we depend on donations, gifts in general and sponsorships to make it happen. The general population, both in the city and in the region, helps and collaborates, as 100% of the income is donated to the Hospital de Amor de Barretos”
Hospital de Amor serves all cancer patients 100% free of charge. For this reason, donors are fundamental and essential for the work that the institution does. It is because of this help that they offer the best and most humanized cancer treatment for patients from all over Brazil.
“Our patients in Novais have always been very well received, everyone praises the service very much. The hospital is a philanthropic institution that has a history of much love, service and a lot of faith. They take care of everyone equally and have been saving lives for 60 years”, says the coordinator, who ends by quoting the famous phrase “doing good without looking at whom” to describe the charity work she has been carrying out for four years.
This year, the event will take place at the Novais Parish Hall on Saturday, the 17th, and on Sunday, the 18th. The auction starts at 11 am.
The Right to Live Auction attracts a large audience from both Novais and the region
