The McLaren team had mixed feelings today in qualifying for the Dutch GP, with Lando Norris taking P7 but Daniel Ricciardo only P17.

Andreas Seidl, Team Principal: “Mixed feelings after qualifying here in Zandvoort. Lando had a very strong qualifying, took everything out of the car and finished in P7. Daniel was unlucky with the incident in front of him, which cost him the chance to progress, and he will start in P17. The car has been competitive so far this weekend and we made improvements overnight which put us in a decent position. Qualifying just behind the top three teams is a strong result, demonstrating that we have the pace to score good points tomorrow. Our full focus is on race preparation and we are looking forward to an exciting Dutch GP, in front of an unbelievable crowd,” he concluded.

Norris: “Good morning. I am very happy with the P7. We gave ourselves the best opportunity to make the most of our race and we couldn’t have done much better compared to the six cars in front of us. We have a good chance of scoring some good points tomorrow, so that’s the goal,” he added.

Ricciardo: “I’m disappointed to have stayed already in Q1. It was tough, and I was pretty confident we were strong, but I got a little unlucky in the penultimate corner. The car in front brought some dirt onto the track and I just slipped and got lost, I think it was about three tenths or so. So yeah, it cost us a lot. I think it was probably a few tenths to find, and I think we could have gotten that. So it’s very frustrating. It will be difficult for the race tomorrow, but we will continue.”
