John Boyd Dunlop Avenue, in Campinas, was released on Thursday afternoon, around 4:50 pm, after an accident involving a car and a pole. The collision caused the road to be completely blocked, one of the main ones in Campinas. According to Emdec (Campinas Municipal Development Company), the pole was also replaced by CPFL this afternoon. The crash happened around 11 am on the approach to Rua Achiles Bertoldi, in the Satellite Íris region. A 69-year-old woman was injured and was referred to the PUC-Campinas Hospital, with abdominal and chest pain.
In the afternoon, the car was moved to a John Boyd setback area. Soon after the accident, two lanes of the avenue were blocked and the BRT corridor was partially released. Even with the partial release, traffic remained congested for about 1km, until the Nova Esperança region.
In images taken from the place, it is possible to see that after the car hit the pole, the structure was tilted over the tracks. Bus passengers gave up waiting and got out of vehicles because of the ban. To avoid the blockade, some cars invaded the opposite lane and continued their journey.
