Average pork price in SP drops at the end of the month but still exceeds the same period in 2021

According to a Cepea report, the drop was motivated by an imbalance between supply and demand in the domestic market.

The average price of live swine traded in São Paulo dropped 6% in the week of August 23 to 30, at R$ 7.15 per kilo, but the average for the month still exceeds the value of August last year. According to a report by the Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics (Cepea), the drop was motivated by an imbalance between supply and demand in the domestic market. “Nevertheless, the average is 1.5% higher than the one verified in July and is 5.1% higher than that of August/21, this being the sixth consecutive month of advance”, he pointed out.
