Five people who were in an ambulance from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), in Faxinal, were injured after an accident occurred this Friday afternoon (2) on PR-170, known as Rodovia do Milho, between Novo Itacolomi and Borrazópolis. Among the injured is a woman in labor, two companions, the driver of the vehicle and a nursing technician.
Several rescue teams were called, including two helicopters from the aeromedical service. The ambulance was bringing the pregnant woman to Apucarana when she was hit by the trailer.
All were taken to area hospitals. According to information from the Faxinal Samu coordinator, the ambulance driver suffered injuries considered very serious, including brain trauma. She was transported by the aeromedical service to Hospital Bom Samaritano, in Maringá. The 44-year-old nursing technician was taken to Hospital da Providência de Apucarana. According to the report, his condition is stable. One of the companions was sent to the same hospital. The pregnant woman’s mother, who was also in the ambulance, suffered more serious injuries and was taken by air to a hospital in Londrina.
The pregnant woman’s water, who is from Borrazópolis, broke at the time of the accident. She had moderate injuries and was taken to the Providência Materno Infantil Hospital. The birth would have taken place. The baby and mother would be receiving medical care in the ICU. The driver of the truck was not injured.

The woman underwent a cesarean section and had a boy. “Hospital da Providência and Hospital da Providência Materno Infantil inform that the patient was admitted this Friday to Hospital da Providência Materno Infantil and underwent a cesarean section, being transferred after the procedure to Hospital da Providência. The baby remains in the Newborn Unit of the Maternal and Child Hospital and is stable and on room air. The patient is also stable and remains hospitalized with no expected hospital discharge.“, says the statement.
