This Saturday (3), actress Duda Santos, who plays Santinha in the remake of “Renascer”, was a guest on “É de Casa”. In the morning, the artist revealed how she felt when recording the character’s death, which aired this Friday (2) on TV Globo. Furthermore, Duda admitted she was afraid of the public’s reaction and explained why she needed to watch the moment away from her family.

In the plot, Santinha (Santos) was giving birth to her fourth child with José Inocêncio (Humberto Carrão). However, the young woman felt severe pain and, upon noticing something wrong, asked Jacutinga (Juliana Paes) to save the baby instead of her. Inocêncio, in turn, begged that his wife be saved in her son’s place, but to no avail.

The scene had repercussions on social media and earned Duda Santos’ performance a lot of praise. On Globo’s morning show, the actress – who was also acclaimed by presenters Maria Beltrão and Rita Batista – confessed that recording the scene was very difficult, due to her attachment to the story.

“Recording, I already felt like: ‘How am I going to be without this character?’. It’s really crazy, we get attached”, admitted the star. “I spend more time being Maria Santa than being Duda, in fact. So, I started to live that intensely, and I delved deeply.”he highlighted.

It was in her mother that the actress found the inspiration and support needed to bring the moment to life. “I talked a lot with my mother before recording these scenes. And she said: ‘I would do that [morrer para salvar o meu filho] without thinking twice’. At the time, I thought about my sister, who is a figure I am in love with, I idolize her, Maria Paula”shared.

As it was his final scene in the serial, Duda stated that he was very shaken by the farewell. “I fell in love, it’s a very beautiful novel. I fell in love with the people, the history and everything. It was very difficult to understand and accept that Maria Santa would say goodbye to this soap opera”, she said.

Originally written by Benedito Ruy Barbosa and adapted for the new version by Bruno Luperi, Santos stated that the character had many nuances and that interpreting this made the project even more challenging.

The farewell hurt so much that Duda ditched his family to watch the scene on the small screen. “Yesterday, watching it, I got very emotional. My mother wanted me to see it at her house, and I said: ‘no, mother, I think I need to see it alone today’. I needed to see it alone. I was scared to death of yesterday’s episode,” she admitted.

The fear would have been instigated by the fear surrounding the public’s reaction to his performance. “I said: ‘Now that Brazil finds out that I’m not an actress’”declared Dudley, making Maria and Rita laugh. “Oh, of course, darling! We already wanted to bring you an Oscar”, joked Beltrão. “If anyone had any doubts, there were no doubts yesterday. It was the opposite, yesterday was total consecration”, praised Rita.

Connection

The chemistry between Duda and co-star Humberto Carrão has earned a lot of praise from the public on social media and attracted audiences to the soap opera. According to the actress, the connection between them is old and this helped bring the love of Santinha and Zé Inocêncio to the screen.

“Humberto and I knew each other from bumping into each other at sambas, and he was friends on social media too. One time, I recorded supporting cast in Amor de Mãe [2019], and he was there. We met a few times, but we weren’t very close,” remembered.

Duda would have been pleasantly surprised to learn that Carrão would be his romantic partner. “Shortly before finding out that I was in the soap opera, I got closer to Humberto at sambas, I even went to his birthday the other year. And we ended up getting closer. Soon after, when I went to test with the boys, Humberto arrived. I said: ‘Lie!’”she detailed.

Still according to Santos, both share a very strong connection and affection for each other. “He’s rooting for me, we hugged each other tightly”he concluded.
