247 – The São Paulo Civil Police are investigating the death of Lívia Gabriela da Silva Matos, aged 19, after she met with player Dimas Cândido de Oliveira Filho, aged 18, who plays for Corinthians’ under-20 category. The meeting took place in the athlete’s apartment, located in the east of the capital, and culminated in a tragic incident. According to the death certificate, the young woman died due to a “Douglas cul-de-sac rupture extending to the left vaginal wall”, an internal genital injury that caused a fatal hemorrhage.

The investigation is in charge of the 5th Police Station for the Defense of Women in Tatuapé, which seeks to clarify the circumstances of Lívia’s death. It is expected that the necroscopic, toxicological and sexological examinations, carried out by the Legal Medical Institute (IML), will provide more details about the case within 30 to 60 days.

Dimas and his defense team claim that the sexual relationship between him and Lívia was consensual, highlighting that the meeting was the first time they saw each other in person after meeting on social media. They report that, upon noticing that Lívia had fainted and was bleeding, Dimas promptly called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), being instructed to perform cardiac massages until the rescuers arrived. Police found traces of blood on towels, sheets and the floor of the player’s room.

The defense emphasizes that Dimas did not commit any crime. “Due to the absence of evidence of crime, the police chief who accompanied, listened, took all the statements and traces, also came to the conclusion that there was no trace of Dimas’ crime. Therefore, he was released”, said lawyer Tiago Lenoir to UOL News.

CONTINUES AFTER RECOMMENDATIONS

He also highlighted: “He is a young player who has a career ahead of him. He didn’t kill her, he didn’t commit any crime and he’s available [das autoridades]. In fact, this fatality occurred.”

Sport Club Corinthians, in turn, regretted what happened and offered to collaborate with the investigations, emphasizing the importance of waiting for the results to clarify the facts.
