An accident involving an ambulance from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) between Borrazópolis and Novo Itacolomi on the afternoon of Friday, 3rd, left four injured. The vehicle responded to a call in the city of Borrazópolis and transported a pregnant 17-year-old teenager and her grandmother to Apucarana.
The truck collided head-on with the ambulance after the vehicle’s front tire burst, causing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.
The ambulance driver was trapped in the wreckage and was taken by helicopter to the Bom Samaritano Hospital in Maringá. A nurse who was in the ambulance and the teenager’s grandmother were also transported by helicopter to area hospitals.
The pregnant teenager was taken to Apucarana Municipal Hospital by a second ambulance that arrived at the scene. The pregnant woman’s water, who is from Borrazópolis, broke at the time of the accident. The birth took place and the baby and mother are receiving medical care in the ICU. The driver of the truck was not injured.
