The driver of the bus that was involved in an accident with two other trucks on the BR-163 between Juti and Naviraí in Mato Grosso do Sul has been identified. Mauro Márcio do Santos was 40 years old, was born in Campo Grande and worked at the company Arara Azul.
The body was identified by the family at Imol (Institute of Medicine and Forensic Dentistry) and has already been released. The accident occurred on Friday afternoon (2) and resulted in 23 injuries, two of which were in serious condition, in addition to death. General care was provided at the Naviraí Municipal Hospital and the two serious victims were transferred to Dourados.
As of Saturday morning (3), three passengers were still hospitalized for observation. Also in the early hours of the day, traffic on the BR-163 section was completely free. During the night traffic operated on a “stop and go” basis.
According to information from delegate Edson Ubeda, head of the city’s 1st DP, the deadline for the expert report to be finalized is 10 days, but, due to the complexity of the case, it will most likely take longer.
This is because many people who need to be heard live in other cities, so there is a more bureaucratic process to carry out the hearings, as police stations in other municipalities will have to provide support.
Images from CCRVia’s monitoring cameras will be analyzed to help decipher the dynamics of the accident. The trip started in Sinop (MT) and would end in Cascavel, Paraná. The bus that left Mato Grosso had an axle problem and was replaced in Campo Grande.
