On Friday (2), civil and military police launched an operation at Garimpo do Juruena, located in the city of Nova Bandeirantes (1,020 km from Cuiab). At the scene, five men were arrested and a quantity of gold without legal origin was seized.

The work comes from Operation Garimpo Juruena. The agents reported that they went to the location to execute search and seizure warrants.

At the scene, they found four men in a criminal situation and arrested the suspects in the act. A 5th person under investigation identified as Milton – known as Gordinho – was also arrested.

He is suspected of involvement in five homicides in the city of Nova Bandeirantes. The agents did not provide any further details about Gordinho’s criminal record.

In addition to them, the following were also seized: several firearms, ammunition, gold without legal origin, cash and inputs for the manufacture of ammunition.

Among the weapons seized are: three rifles, three shotguns and two pistols. Furthermore, the police found at the mine: a container of unnatural gold, a container of unnatural silver, R$2,779 in cash, lead and supplies for various ammunition.

The materials and suspects were sent to the police station for processing. The case will be investigated by the Civil Police.
