An accident involving two trucks and a bus with more than 40 passengers resulted in one fatality and several injuries this Friday (2), at km 135 of BR-163. Teams from the Federal Highway Police (PRF), Emergency Medical Care Service (Samu) and Fire Department worked at the scene.
According to information from the PRF and CCR-MS Vias, the concessionaire responsible for managing the highway in Mato Grosso do Sul, one person died, while at least 40 were injured. The bus, which left Sinop (MT) bound for Cascavel, carried 41 passengers.
The dynamics of the accident have not yet been disclosed and forensic experts are working to identify the fatal victim. Both lanes of the highway were closed, with no plans for reopening.
Eight injured people were taken to Santa Casa de Naviraí, and the hospital director, Cláudia Pereira, informed that the institution’s staff had been reinforced to receive the victims who were yet to arrive. Hospital teams were sent to the scene of the accident to provide first medical care.
