The value of the basic food basket calculated by the average of 11 supermarkets in Londrina showed a reduction of 2.15% in relation to the month of December 2023, according to that of Nupea (Núcleo de Pesquisas Aplicadas) of UTFPR and UEL.
Of the 13 items that make up the national basic food basket, three showed a drop in prices compared to the previous month: oil, bananas and coffee. There was an increase in prices for three other products: potatoes, rice and tomatoes.
The value that attracts the most attention at the moment is that of potatoes, which increased by 243.5%.
In this latest survey, the basic food basket for an adult ended up at R$577.71. However, according to Nupea, if the consumer buys all the goods that make up the basic basket in the supermarket that has the lowest prices, they will pay R$506.69 or 12.3% cheaper than the average.
Fruits and vegetables became more expensive in Londrina. According to the Ceasa report, fruits such as oranges and mangoes have risen in price. This increase is due to several factors. The pear orange is in low production because of a disease called greening that reduces the quantity and quality of the orchard.
The increase was 44%, the mango is reaching the end of the harvest and is costing 230% more compared to the December price. The vegetables didn’t escape either. Zucchini undergoes lower production due to high temperatures.
