Sindipetro-SJC informs that it is participating in the investigation and analysis committee of the accident that occurred on January 25th. The accident occurred in the same management (DH) where the fatal accident of comrade José Roberto occurred, in June 2023.
Once again, we are facing difficulties in determining what really happened during the incident, starting with the company’s report on the quantity of product leaked (200 liters), which is not sustainable.
We found that at least 25 drums of waste were removed from the site. This highlights a report that is (at least) inaccurate and, what is worse, could mean an attempt by management to hide the real classification of the accident.
Due to the potential of the occurrence, we understand that it is necessary to expand its classification.
Furthermore, it is necessary to carefully analyze the CAT (Occupational Accident Report) of the Operations Technician who was injured during the control of the emergency who, unable to work in the operational area due to the injury, was placed on teleworking to avoid being removed from work. .
There is another debate that needs to be made: Revap’s distillation unit is the largest in the country (40,000 m/day) and has the smallest staff available in the field (only 2 operating technicians).
In this case, during the incident the operations team was changing shifts. This made it possible to guarantee a greater number of workers to act in emergencies.
In a normal work situation, with reduced staff, the response time would be longer and the impact of the incident would certainly be different. We can no longer tolerate this unit with a number of operators that do not even guarantee the safety of activities and emergency response, putting workers’ lives at risk.
We will not accept that, once again, the refinery management acts to stifle its mistakes! We demand a serious and transparent investigation!
