The death of Carl Weathers, at the age of 76, shocked the artistic class. The actor became known for playing Apollo Credd in the film “Rocky” (1976). One of the artist’s last works was in the series “The Mandalorian”, available on Disney Plus.
Sylvester Stallone, Adam Sandler, Marcos Mion, Carolina Dieckmann and more famous people paid their tributes on social media. Sly even published a video in which he appears in front of a painting that represents the iconic fight scene between Rocky Balboa and Apollo.
“It was an incredibly sad day for me. I’m so sad I can’t describe it. Carl Weathers was an incredible part of my life, my success and I give him incredible credit for that because when he walked into that room and I I saw it for the first time, I saw greatness. But I didn’t realize how big. I could never have done what we did with Rocky without him. He was absolutely brilliant. His voice, his size, his power, his athletic ability, but more important, his heart, his soul. It’s a horrible loss, and I’m here in front of this painting because it was probably the last moment we were in the ring together, and I’ll never forget it. He was magical, I was so fortunate to have to have been part of your life”, he said with a choked voice.
Adam Sandler paid tribute to his professional colleague:
“A truly great man. Great father. Great actor. Great athlete. So much fun to be around. Smart as hell. Loyal as hell. Funny as hell. Loved his kids more than anything. What a guy!! Everyone loved him. My wife and I had so much fun with him whenever we saw him. Love to his entire family and Carl will always be known as a true legend.”
Michael B. Jordan, actor who played Adonis Creed, son of the character Apollo, in the film “Creed” also mourned the actor’s death: “We have lost a legend”, he wrote.
