Five people who were in an ambulance from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), in Faxinal, were injured after an accident occurred this Friday afternoon (2) on PR-170, known as Rodovia do Milho, between Novo Itacolomi and Borrazópolis.
Among the injured were a woman in labor, two companions, the driver of the vehicle and a nursing technician. The patient and companions are residents of Borrazópolis and were on their way to medical care in Apucarana when the accident occurred.
Several rescue teams were called, including a helicopter from the aeromedical service. The ambulance driver was trapped in the wreckage and was removed from the scene by Siate teams unconscious and with injuries considered very serious. According to information from Samu de Faxinal, she was stabilized and taken to Hospital Bom Samaritano, in Maringá.
The nursing technician and one of the pregnant woman’s companions also suffered serious injuries. The 44-year-old nursing technician was taken to Hospital da Providência de Apucarana. According to the report, his condition is stable. One of the companions was taken to the same hospital, with moderate injuries.
The pregnant woman’s mother was taken in serious condition by air transport to a hospital in Londrina.
The pregnant woman also suffered moderate injuries and was taken by an ambulance from Novo Itacolomi to the Hospital da Providência Materno Infantil.
According to information from Samu de Faxinal, the birth had taken place. The baby and mother would be receiving medical care in the ICU. The driver of the truck was not injured.
