In the early hours of last Monday (29), Márcio Elizeu Melo, a 45-year-old businessman, was stabbed while sleeping next to his wife in the family home in the city of Indaial, located in the Itajaí Valley, in Santa Catarina. His son confessed to being the perpetrator of the crime and revealed the motive.
Márcio succumbed to his injuries, while his 39-year-old wife was taken to the hospital in serious condition and survived.
The crime, which occurred within the family environment, became even more disturbing when authorities discovered that the couple’s son, just 18 years old, was involved in planning and carrying out the murder.
The son, whose name was not released by authorities, along with a friend of the same age, were detained after confessing to the act.
According to reports, the son offered a cash reward to his friend for his help in the crime. Both were taken to a prison in the region, where they will await the investigation and face murder charges.
The motive behind this act also came to light during investigations. According to police information, the son worked in his father’s company, but faced family conflicts and resentment.
He expressed feelings of anger, claiming that his parents did not treat him as a son, but as a mere employee, creating an environment of discontent and hostility.
In the son’s own words, his father was quite strict, and the relationship between them deteriorated over time. He stated that he felt devalued and disrespected, which fueled his desire to “eliminate” his parents.
