The bus that was involved in an accident on BR-163, between Juti and Naviraí, was the second vehicle used by passengers on the same trip. According to reports from the victims, the first traveled from Sinop (MT) to Campo Grande and needed to be replaced due to a problem with the axle.
Self-employed Vitor Fiorese lives in Cuiabá, capital of Mato Grosso, but left Sinop for Francisco Beltrão, in Paraná. He says that the accident occurred after the bus driver tried to overtake two trucks at once.
In the first he succeeded, but failed when trying to pass the second. As he lost speed, he hit the rear, hitting the truck in front and leaving the road. “The driver forced to overtake and the second truck was unable to move forward, braked suddenly and the accident occurred.”
According to Vitor, there were many children among the passengers, a fact that made the moment even more tense. “I tried to stay calm and help everyone.” The self-employed man had minor injuries and helped remove other people from the vehicle. It is worth mentioning that the official version of the dynamics of the accident will be made by the expert.
One of the three drivers died on the spot, there is still no confirmation, but the unofficial information is that he was the bus driver. Two other men were in a very serious condition and were transferred to Dourados for highly complex care.
One of them is Sandro Roberto Gomes Alves, 50 years old, who accompanied the bus driver. According to the director of the Naviraí Municipal Hospital, Cláudia Pereira, 23 people who did not have serious injuries were treated and, at the moment, 14 are under observation.
The accident mobilized four vehicles from the Naviraí Fire Department, two from CCR MSVia, one from the city hall, teams from the PRF (Federal Highway Police) and even one from the National Force. The trip started in Sinop and would end in Cascavel (PR).
