Despite the housing crisis in the country, Portuguese cities continue to appear at the top of rankings that select the best metropolises to visit. This time, Porto and Lisbon are on the list of the 50 best cities in the world to visit in 2024, according to Time Out Global’s annual survey. The Portuguese capital occupies the 13th position while Porto appears in tenth place, on a list headed by New York.
For Time Out Global, Porto is the capital of wine, being a place where you can eat and drink well. According to the survey, 98% of inhabitants consider Porto to be a beautiful city.
In Lisbon, the city’s strong points are its light, viewpoints and beaches just half an hour away from the center. Another reason highlighted by Time Out are the music festivals in the summer, such as Rock in Rio, NOS Alive or MEO Kalorama.
After New York, Cape Town, Berlin, London and Madrid are the best cities to live in. The two Portuguese cities appear on the list ahead of major destinations such as Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Barcelona, San Francisco or Sydney.
