The collection of the Bombinhas environmental toll, called the Environmental Preservation Fee (TPA), began this Wednesday (15th) in the 2023/2024 season. Until April 15th, all vehicles from outside the city that enter the municipality must pay a fee to the city hall.

The price changes depending on the type of car (see table below). Local residents are exempt.

The charge was instituted in 2014, under the justification that the municipality was able to maintain environmental actions given the number of tourists during the summer. The city hall argues that it is just over 35 thousand square kilometers in length and ends up receiving up to 2.5 million visitors during the season.

Last year alone, the municipal administration of Bombinhas raised R$16 million from the TPA.

According to the city hall, in recent years the money has been used to provide daily sanitation and cleaning services for the beaches during the summer season, purchase 400 trash cans for the beaches and also for the Avenida Leopoldo Zarling.

The municipality also says that the proceeds allowed the acquisition of an inflatable boat to help monitor the Environmental Foundation, build the Bombas beach promenade, create informative signs for trails and environmental education and street cleaning.
