In Praça Mauá, in Rio’s Port Zone, the Civil Police arrested yet another member of the ‘Gangue do Cordão de Ouro’, a gang specialized in jewelry thefts. Anderson Mendes da Silva was detained in an operation to repress criminal activities in the central region of the city.
It is worth mentioning that Anderson’s brother, a 17-year-old young man, is identified as one of those responsible for the murder of civil police officer Wellington Lourenço Soares, which took place on Avenida Lúcio Costa, in Barra da Tijuca.
The two brothers were identified during the execution of a robbery recorded by security cameras on Buenos Aires Street. The use of these images allowed the police to identify the perpetrators of the crime.
Identification through Security Cameras
The use of security camera images once again proves crucial in identifying and capturing criminals. Surveillance technologies enable quick and accurate responses.
The arrest of Anderson Mendes da Silva represents a step forward in the fight against crime in the region, but highlights the continued need for vigilance and improvement of security strategies to confront increasingly cunning criminal organizations.
