A 23-year-old young man was arrested in Itatinga (SP) this Tuesday (14) after police found counterfeit Brazilian real, dollar and euro notes in his home.
The investigations began after a trader contacted the police after noticing that she had received 11 counterfeit R$200 bills from the suspect.
The search and seizure warrant at the suspect’s home was carried out with the assistance of the Municipal Guard and the notes were found inside a safe at the scene. The young man confessed that the notes were his and that he had purchased the counterfeit money on an online platform.
Initially he said he bought the notes for a game, but later said he intended to exchange the dollars and euros for reais at an exchange office. He was arrested in the act and taken to the Itatinga Prison, where he awaits a custody hearing.
