After colliding on the road between São José do Rio Preto and Votuporanga, in the interior of São Paulo, Marcelo Facchini He spent 58 days in hospital. Of these, 23 days were spent in a coma – 15 of them in critical condition, which took almost two months until medical discharge. “I had a head injury and lost all movement in my body. After a lot of pain, effort and therapy, I managed to gain a lot of independence. I couldn’t brush my teeth or even feed myself, I had to relearn how to do basic everyday things”, says the transport businessman, about the 2009 episode.

Now he releases the book Strength, Fortress (ed. Citadeu), a testimony of determination and resilience to show that it is possible to move forward. “After a few years, I discovered that my biggest purpose after the accident was to transform lives and show that, even in the most difficult moments, like when I had to see my world destroyed, it is possible to rebuild stronger. There is a light, and everything can get better. If I can transform just one person in the world with my book, I will be happy.”

Marcelo also reports that cases of accidents, such as the recent one involving the actor Kayky Brito, still move him. “Every time I see an accident or something serious, I see it as proof that we are small and that our lives can change in a single second. And what goes through my head is also the pain and anguish that the family goes through.”
