A 56-year-old man, suspected of committing rape, bank robbery and murder, in the metropolitan region of Goiânia, died after a police confrontation, on Tuesday night (14).
According to the Military Police (PM), the team saw two men in a vehicle, in Inhumas, with the same characteristics as the perpetrator, who was already being sought for crimes committed in Greater Goiânia.
The police team from the Division Operations Command (COD) initiated the approach, but the order to stop was not obeyed by the pair. According to the PM’s report, at one point, the criminal got out of the vehicle, along with his accomplice, and shot at the police officers. In the fightback, the man suspected of rape was shot.
The police team called for medical assistance, which confirmed the man’s death. The Legal Medical Institute (IML) was also at the scene.
The accomplice managed to escape through a thicket in the region. He left the gun used in the shooting, which was seized by police. In the suspects’ vehicle, the police found a quantity of cocaine and precision scales. The other weapon was also seized.
Crimes
According to the PM, the man who died during the confrontation had murdered a security guard with a shot to the head, at the place where he worked, after the victim discovered that his niece had been raped by the perpetrator. Furthermore, the criminal would also be responsible for a bank robbery with a hostage.
