AL GOVERNMENT TODAY TRANSFERS ADMINISTRATIVE HEADQUARTERS TO MARSHAL DEODORO

The government of Alagoas transfers its administrative headquarters to the city of Marechal Deodoro, this Wednesday (15), in commemoration of the 134th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic. The ceremony will take place at the Marechal Deodoro Provincial Palace, in the city center, at 8:30 am.

The transfer of the seat of government to the municipality of Marechal Deodoro – endorsed as the ‘cradle of the Republic’ – has taken place annually since 2009, also celebrating the history of the proclaimer and first president of the Brazilian Republic, Marechal Deodoro da Fonseca. The measure appears in the sole paragraph of article 6 of the State Constitution of Alagoas and provides that annually, on November 15th, the municipality of Marechal Deodoro will be the seat of the state government.

“It is a very important day for us, Deodorenses, with an extensive program that reinforces the protagonism of Marechal Deodoro, a historic city listed by IPHAN, the first capital of Alagoas and birthplace of the proclaimer of the Republic. We have the transfer of the headquarters of the State Government to the Provincial Palace, with the rescue of the culture of the civic-military parade on November 15th and also the awarding of the Rocha da Fonseca Commendation, the highest honor granted by the Municipality”, said the mayor by Marechal, Cacau son.

After the raising of the flag, followed by the ceremony of transferring the headquarters of the Government of the State of Alagoas, the release of the Paving Agreements takes place and the ceremony of placing flowers on the bust of Marechal Deodoro.

At 10am, the Civic Military parade takes place in Largo do Taperaguá. Subsequently, at 11 am, the inauguration of urban road paving works by the Pró-Estrada Program (6.4 km – R$ 2,600,000.00) takes place, and at 12 pm the inauguration of two streets in Massagueira. Participating in the program are the governor of Alagoas, Paulo Dantas, Cacau Filho, and other authorities.

Finally, at 7pm, there will be a ceremony to award the Rosa da Fonseca Municipal Commendation. The Dona Rosa da Fonseca Municipal Commendation was established by Municipal Law 1,287, on July 29, 2019, and distinguishes personalities who have provided relevant services to the municipality of Marechal Deodoro.

Political scientist Luciana Santana spoke of the Republic, a system that allows you to guarantee the rise of power through democratic regimes.

“When we talk about the Republic, we are referring to political options that were adopted in terms of shaping the state. We have had this model since 1889. There was an option to change, in 93, but it was not the population’s decision, through the plebiscite. And the basic difference from other models, such as the monarchy, is that the Republic is a system that allows control of public affairs, guarantees alternation of power through elections and has the values ​​of the democratic regimes established in the country. regional and social inequalities, it is still the regime that makes changes possible. It is immensely important to think about a Republic to the detriment of other state formats”, he explained.
