New research on the basic food basket, carried out by Fundação Procon Uberaba, points to a 66% increase in the average price found for sugar. Also according to research carried out in the city’s supermarkets, four out of seven essential items on the Uberabase consumer’s table registered an increase.
According to the research, the 5kg package of sugar was found at R$7.49 at its minimum price, while the highest value found was R$17.99. The average is R$12.73. Compared to the average value found in October, the product had a valuation of 66.62%.
Whole milk followed the increase and registered an average price of R$5.59. Last month, the average price of the product was R$3.58, which represents a 56.15% increase in value. On the shelves, the product can be found for R$3.19 at its lowest price and at its highest price at R$7.99.
The research also points to an increase of 12.66% in relation to the month of October in soybean oil, which can be found for up to R$5.99. The 5kg package of needle rice shows an increase of 4% in the average price and a drop of 6.32% in the minimum value, which can be found at R$17.79. Toilet paper increased by R$0.10.
While these products showed an increase, 500g ground coffee, the famous “cafezinho”, saw a drop of almost 4%. The average price went from R$14.48 to R$13.94. Now, the product can be found between R$9.90 and R$17.99. The 1kg package of beans also had a drop in value. From R$4.74, the average price fell to R$4.14. On the shelves, the food costs between R$2.99 and R$5.29.
