A Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of São Paulo (Faesp) requested the Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns Gerais de São Paulo (Ceagesp) to review the amounts charged for storage services.

In a statement, the entity said that it carried out a survey of the prices charged by Ceagesp and other competitors in the private market.

“We noticed that some amounts charged for services do not differentiate the product that is the object of service provision, so that producers of corn It is soyfor example, pay the same amount for storage services”highlighted in a statement, Tirso Meirelles, vice-president of Faesp.

“Thus, although there is competitiveness in the case of corn, the prices charged by Ceagesp for soybeans are higher than those of market competitors”, added the director.

For the entity, the price difference has kept São Paulo soybean producers away from Ceagesp units.

“Considering that, historically, the costs for storing corn are greater than those for soybeans due to the intrinsic characteristics of the products, there is normally a differentiation in prices”, added Faesp.

The federation wants the warehouse review the prices charged from reception, cleaning, drying and storage of products, differentiating the values by commodities. This initiative would result in a more competitive price list in the private storage market, highlighted the entity.

Faesp also requests a study to reactivate idle units in the company’s storage network. Currently, the warehouse units in the regions of Ourinhos, Ribeirão Preto, Barra Funda and Rincão are deactivated, while the Itapeva unit is being used for another purpose.
