A 34-year-old driver died after crashing his truck into the guardrail at the junction of Rifainaat km 464 of the Cândido Portinari highway, in the early hours of this Wednesday, 15.

According to information in the police report, the driver was driving an Iveco truck, heading towards Rifaina sacrament (MG) and, for reasons to be clarified, lost control and hit the metal protection of the highway. The truck’s cabin was completely destroyed.

The driver Rodrigo de Oliveira, aged 34, died instantly. As a passenger was Oliveira’s father-in-law, Assilio Souza, aged 61, who was taken to Santa Casa de Boulder. Both men have identity documents issued in the State of Santa Catarina. The vehicle is registered in the city of Chapecó (SC).

The Military Highway Police arrived at the scene and the road had to be closed.

Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service) rescuers from France They went to the scene and the doctor declared the driver dead.

A police report was registered with the CPJ (Judicial Police Center) in Franca.


Three deaths in 9 days

Rodrigo de Oliveira’s death was the third on the Cândido Portinari highway, in the Rifaina section, within a period of nine days. The three fatalities have one element in common: the guardrail. Two motorcyclists also died after the motorcycles they were riding collided with the metal fenders.
