“From great battles come great winners.” This expression sums up the success of Lucilaine Lima, who saw, in the midst of difficulty, the opportunity that would change the course of her life forever.

Lu, as she is affectionately known by everyone, was about to fulfill her dream of getting married and it was for her party that, despite having no experience, she prepared the newlyweds for her guests and her husband. When his first child was born, Lu began to undertake and, to specialize, he dedicated himself to studies, improving and developing his talent.

In a short time, Lucilaine was already a reference in her city – Serra, in Espírito Santo – for the quality of her delicacies and in particular, her well-married dishes.

“I started teaching, in my garage, gastronomic and entrepreneurship techniques to small groups of women who, like me, dreamed of starting a business,” she recalls.

The strength of women entrepreneurs

Brazil is the seventh country with the highest number of women entrepreneurs: of the approximately 52 million entrepreneurs, 30 million (48%) are women, as shown by the GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor 2020) survey carried out by Sebrae in partnership with the Brazilian Institute of Quality and Productivity (IBQP).

Confirming the statistics, in 2014 Lucilaine founded the Instituto Gourmet, the largest national network of franchises specialized in professional courses in the area of gastronomy, which last year alone had revenues of more than R$100 million, teaching recipes, techniques and introducing true successful entrepreneurs to the market. .

“I’m proud to say that the Gourmet Institute transforms lives, just as it transformed mine. We have many students who are now excellent, renowned professionals, who have gained their financial independence and have an important place in the job market”, declares Lucilaine.

“Success only comes to those who dream, those who are resilient, have discipline, get their hands dirty and make it happen. My journey has already inspired many women to conquer their space in the market and I want to continue serving as an encouraging example for those who still think they can’t”, she concludes.

HOMEWORK inspires transformation in the world of work, in business, in society. It is the creation of Compasso, a content and connection agency.
