Death in water park: “I ask for justice for my son’s death”, says mother

A 3-year-old boy drowned in a water park in the Coramara neighborhood, in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in the south of the state. Mother of Kalleb Ferreira da Silva, self-employed Kevillyn Lopes da Silva, 22 years old, asks for justice.

“I ask for justice for my son’s death. I’m suffering a lot. His father left him with a friend, who was reportedly drunk. May all those responsible for this tragedy be held accountable,” she said.

According to the Civil Police, the child’s father, aged 25, had left the Acqua Park Cachoeiro water park on a motorbike to pick up a friend and left his son in the care of a friend, aged 26. The case occurred on Saturday (11) .

The father and friend were taken to the 7th Cachoeiro Regional Police Station. The father told police that the boy was not wearing a float.

The friend said he was with his daughter in one of the pools and was watching Kalleb, who was in another, about 80 meters away. When he got out of the water to look for an object in his bag, a bather appeared with the boy in his arms, unconscious, saying that he had drowned.

The police reported that the child’s father’s friend was charged with murder by omission. The father was interviewed and released. The case will remain under investigation.

The management of the water park reported that neither the two pool guards nor the approximately 50 people who were there nor the boy responsible for the child saw when she drowned.

He also stated that first aid was provided by the park team.
