Two women are detained after the death of a man in an outbreak at Amaro Lanari, in Fabriciano
Elton died after freaking out and being restrained by two women, taken by the police to the police station
The Coronel Fabriciano police are investigating the death of a 34-year-old man who was reportedly in a psychotic episode attacking family members. When he was restrained by two women, he died of asphyxiation, according to the first medical assessments. The case was registered on Wednesday night (8) on Rua Maranhão, in the Amaro Lanari neighborhood. The two women, aged 50 and 44, were taken to the Civil Police station.
The Military Police were called by employees of the Dr. José Maria Morais Hospital, where the death of Elton de Oliveira Lima was confirmed, where he was admitted. He arrived transported in a private car and was unconscious, without a pulse. The doctor on duty with the clinical team tried to revive him, but to no avail.
Elton’s mother reported to the police that her son had a psychotic episode at home, a man who had mental disorders. He started attacking her with slaps and flip-flops, when two female relatives, aged 50 and 44, went to help the victim, they were also attacked by the freaked out individual.
The women fell to the ground with the man, who was tall and strong. At that moment, according to Elton’s mother, her son passed out. As he did not regain consciousness, they tried to call an ambulance, but given the delay, they decided to take him to the hospital in a private car.
The man’s death was reportedly caused by asphyxiation
The clinical team at Hospital Dr. José Maria Morais, who treated the man, informed the police that he died of asphyxiation. His body was removed to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) of Ipatinga to be autopsied this Thursday morning and the circumstances of his death to be investigated.
One of the women, aged 44, had signs of aggression on her body, such as abrasions and swelling on her face, including a bite mark on her left arm. She was treated at the hospital and, upon being discharged, was taken together with the other 50-year-old woman to the 1st Regional Civil Police Station, in Ipatinga, to provide clarification on the case that was initially registered as a homicide.
