For the second season in a row, the Revere boys soccer team will play Mentor Lake Catholic in the postseason. Unlike last season’s district final, which was won by the Minutemen, this one comes in an Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II state semifinal at Twinsburg. It starts at 7 pm Wednesday with the top-ranked Minutemen (19-0-2) looking to make their ninth state final and first since 2018.

Harley Forkins finally ripped the net for the Cougars with 5:12 left, but it was deemed offsides for Revere to hold it’s two-goal advantage.

The Cougars finally got their first shot on goal and have three this half. The Minutemen made the most of their shot on a goal from Dylan Halm.
If this holds up, it’ll be the second season in a row Revere ends Lake Catholic’s season.
Revere takes a two-goal advantage 10 minutes into the second half against Mentor Lake Catholic
The Minutemen once again showed incredible poise on their second goal when Joe Brown’s shot clanged off the right post.
AJ Catlett let the ball bounce once and then headed to — guess who — Dylan Halm, who put it past Matteo DiSanza with 31:43 left.

The field has been titled toward the Cougars, but that’s due in large part to the Minutemen’s formation with just Dylan Halm playing up top.
That said, Revere has made the most of their chances and holds a 3-0 advantage on shots on goal and a 6-4 edge on shots near goal.
The Cougars hold a 2-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Revere has been solid defensively and to this point hasn’t been out of position once.
As we said before, Jeff Boyle holds the lone goal after collecting a rebound on his own shot and pocketing it in the nylon 4:36 into things.

The Minutemen are playing with Dylan Halm playing up top and are in a 4-2-3-1. So far it’s worked. Revere has two shots on goal and Lake Catholic is still without a shot on frame.

Mentor Lake Catholic pressures, but comes up empty
With 28 minutes left, the Cougars stepped play up. Max Listati took a cross from near the end line, but shot wide. Seconds, Niko Erceg had a chance from the top of the box, but Revere snuffed out the shot.
Play has continued to be in the Minutemen’s defensive third.
Revere gets on the board first in OHSAA state semifinal against Mentor Lake Catholic
Jeff Boyle scored his 11th goal of the season to put the Minutemen up 1-0 just 4:36 into things and showed the poise of a captain doing it.
The midfielder took a beautiful through ball into the box and shot, but Matteo DiSanza got a paw on the ball. Unfortunately for the Cougars, it rebounded right back to Boyle, who let the Lake Catholic defend clear and then put it in the back of the net.

Revere won a state title in 2013 and has finished second in 2018, 2016, 2011, 2010 and 1995. The second-ranked Cougars are in their third final four and first since 2015. They’ve never reached the final.
