Mercedes-Benz presented the new GLE 2024 to Brazil in SUV and Coupé versions for the Brazilian market. The new GLE SUV and Coupé are now available for order across the brand’s entire dealer network with suggested prices of R$729,900.00 for the GLE 450 d 4MATIC SUV and R$833,900.00 for the GLE 450 d 4MATIC Coupé.
The model arrives with a new design, a more technological interior and electrified engines. In Brazil, two versions will be offered, GLE 450 d 4MATIC SUV (R$ 729,900) and GLE 450 d 4MATIC Coupé (R$ 833,900), both diesel and equipped with a 48-volt mild hybrid system and Integrated Starter Generator (ISG ).
In the GLE SUV, equipped with High-Performance LED headlights, two light points complement the daytime running light system, while in the GLE Coupé, equipped with the MULTIBEAM LED system, there are four light points. The designers also revised the interior of the rear lights: in the SUV they are made up of two horizontal blocks and in the Coupé they are two bars.
The GLE 450 d 4MATIC Coupé model features the AMG Exterior and Interior trim package as standard equipment. Design elements include the diamond grille, the AMG front bumper with chrome trim, AMG side panels and wheel arch cladding in the vehicle color, as well as the AMG rear bumper with diffuser.
Both models feature the latest generation steering wheel with touch sensor on the horizontal bars. With these touch-sensitive elements on the right and left, the driver can operate the instrument panel and center console displays from the steering wheel.
With the second generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, the GLE and GLE Coupé are also updated. The vehicle interior becomes even more digital and intelligent, as both hardware and software have made great strides: numerous vehicle and comfort functions can be controlled on the LCD screens in brilliant display views. The sizes of the driver and center displays, each measuring 12.3 inches, were maintained. The center display can be operated directly and conveniently as a touch screen.

Using the “Hello Mercedes” voice assistant, occupants can trigger certain actions even without the activation keyword. This includes answering a phone call, for example. “Hello Mercedes” also explains the vehicle’s functions when listening to the “Help” command and provides assistance when asking how to connect a smartphone via Bluetooth or where to find the first aid kit, for example, as well as recognizing the position of the occupants. Other vehicle functions, such as interior lighting or blinds, can also be controlled by voice command.
The Burmester® Surround Sound premium audio system now features personal sound configuration as well as Dolby Atmos immersive audio experience. A total of 13 speakers, 13 separate amplifier channels and a system power of 590 watts are further features of the Burmester® surround sound system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now available wirelessly. Two USB ports delivering 100 W of power are available in the rear armrest as charging options.
Security and technology
The Driving Assistance Package contains several functions, such as DISTRONIC Active Distance Assistant, Active Steering Assistant and Traffic Sign Assistant. The Parking Package with 360° camera helps the driver maneuver into parallel or perpendicular parking spaces.
Another new feature is the “transparent hood” function. With the off-road driving program activated, the center console screen shows a virtual view under the front of the vehicle – helping to make this noticeably easier on steep terrain. This view is obtained through images generated by the 360° camera. The “transparent hood” allows the driver to better recognize obstacles, such as large rocks or deep holes in their path. This function also offers advantages when driving on ramps or elevations.

The GLE does even more: the 4MATIC four-wheel drive system and a gear ratio designed for traction enable a high towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes. The all-electric trailer hitch is particularly convenient: Via a button on the tailgate or on a panel in the center display, the coupling point together with the socket for the trailer’s electronics is swiveled out and automatically locked into the operating position. After use, it retracts to its resting position behind the bumper equally effortlessly.

A special feature is also provided for those who do not use the hitch to tow a trailer, but to transport bicycles, for example: the trailer hitch has two extra bolts to safely transport a bicycle rack. Its load capacity is 100 kg, allowing electric bicycles to also be charged at this point. Thanks to environmental sensors, parking systems offer even better support when maneuvering. Integrated into MBUX, they can be operated more intuitively and quickly. Active Driving Assistant now remains activated in towing mode. The system helps the driver to stay in the lane automatically, even when making slight turns.
List of standard equipment
Another very important aspect is the wide range of standard equipment in all versions, precisely positioned targeting the wishes frequently expressed by customers. Electric panoramic sunroof, KEYLESS-GO Package, 4-zone air conditioning, Head-Up display system and the Augmented Reality Navigation function are part of the list of standard equipment in all versions.
The SUV body features as exclusive equipment the ability to carry up to seven occupants through the electrically operated third row of seats.
Electrification in all versions
Thanks to mild hybrids with 48-volt technology and the Integrated Starter Generator, the GLE SUV and GLE Coupé are now electrified across their entire range. All engines are electrified using an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a 48-volt electrical system.
The ISG combines the starter motor and alternator into a single powerful electric motor and is installed between the engine and transmission. The system also performs hybrid functions, such as acceleration, recovery, charging point displacement, inertial navigation and the almost imperceptible starting of the engine during the start/stop function.
For Brazil, a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine will be offered in the SUV and Coupé versions, which generates 367 hp of power and 750 NM of torque. This represents a power gain of 37 hp compared to the previously offered model. Both equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission (9G-Tronic) and full four-wheel drive (4MATIC).
Tuscaloosa Factory – USA
The GLE’s lineage began with another name: the M-Class. Its predecessor helped create the premium SUV segment in 1997. Global success continued with the launch of the GLE in 2015. The GLE SUV and GLE Coupé are produced at the factory of Mercedes-Benz in Tuscaloosa (USA). About two-thirds of annual production is exported – making Mercedes-Benz US International (MBUSI) one of the largest automobile exporters in the United States. Since 1997, nearly four million vehicles have rolled off the assembly line in Tuscaloosa.

The Tuscaloosa factory uses modern, digital, sustainable, efficient and flexible production methods. The location is modeled after Factory 56 in Sindelfingen, which symbolizes the future of automobile production at Mercedes-Benz. The brand invested in flexible production at an early stage and utilized the modern MO360 digital production ecosystem. This allows Mercedes-Benz in Tuscaloosa to produce models with combustion engines, plug-in hybrids and all-electric vehicles in large quantities in parallel. Main standard equipment
