The family of Cayone Matoso Dias, stabbed by the doorman of the building where he lived in Vespasiano, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, had his brain death confirmed by his family this Wednesday (8). The victim received more than 10 knife blows from the suspect, who was arrested and released shortly afterwards.
According to information obtained by Itatiaia, the family is just waiting for the protocol exams so that the devices keeping the 26-year-old alive can be turned off and Cayone can be buried. In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the doorman claimed that he stabbed Cayone after being attacked with punches and threatened by the victim. To defend himself, the doorman grabbed a pocket knife that was nearby. The case will be investigated.
Family disputes ‘self-defense’
In an interview with Itatiaia, Cayone’s sister-in-law, Stephanie Rodrigues, said that Cayone was returning from his own birthday party when he was stopped by the doorman, who asked the couple not to park in the wrong space. The young man entered the house, but shortly afterwards returned to talk to the doorman.
“The action lasted less than 50 seconds and he was stabbed 11 times with a knife. We are angry, we want him arrested. He took the life of a father, a son, a husband, a worker. We just want justice for Cayone. Where is 11 stab wounds self-defense?”
Remember the case
A 28-year-old doorman was arrested in the act after trying to stab the resident of a condominium in Vespasiano, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, to death in the early hours of this Sunday (5). The attempted murder took place at Residencial Viena, on Rua Frei Paulo, in the Bom Sucesso neighborhood. The victim was taken to hospital in serious condition.
According to information from the Military Police (PM), the victim is a 26-year-old man, and was allegedly shot in the abdomen and also in the neck. The military detailed that they were called by witnesses and that the doorman also called 190 confessing to the crime.
He claims that he was surprised by the resident, who was showing symptoms of drunkenness, and invaded the cabin where he worked, threatening to kill him. To defend himself, the doorman took a knife, which he had used shortly before during a meal, and struck the victim several times.
