The Ibovespa ended the day with a small drop of 0.08%, reaching 119 thousand points, despite having registered instability during the afternoon. Today’s session reflected market volatility, following the trend in the United States, which also saw its main indices with limited movements. Following this trend, the commercial dollar closed the day with an increase of 0.66%, reaching R$4.90.

Volatile market behavior

Investors faced a volatile session both domestically and globally. In the United States, Jerome Powell, president of the Federal Reserve, the American Central Bank, kept the market in suspense by not commenting on monetary policy. Investors remain attentive to upcoming moves.

Retail sales exceed expectations

Domestically, retail sales surprised, registering growth of 0.6% in September, exceeding expectations. According to IBGE, the September increase was concentrated in income-sensitive sectors, such as supermarkets, food, beverages and tobacco. These sectors benefited from the increase in income and disinflation.
