A mother influencer was heavily criticized for revealing her newborn daughter’s name on social media, with many users declaring that the chosen name was more suitable for a dog than a child. American Kaci Driggers, who has a popular TikTok page alongside her husband Casey, regularly posts videos about the couple’s routine with their three children. She recently gave birth to the couple’s third child, a girl, and revealed that after a few days they decided to rename the little one.
On TikTok, Kaci shared a video of herself putting on makeup while reflecting on her decision. She told her 1.7 million followers: “I can’t believe I’m making this video. I had a baby a week ago and we’re changing her name. We hadn’t chosen a name, and she ended up being born five weeks early at 35 weeks, so we had even less time to think of her name than we thought we would.”

Kaci revealed that she and Casey decided to name their daughter Murphy, but have since changed their minds after hearing negative comments regarding the choice. She continued, “We still love that name, but she literally doesn’t look like a Murphy. I don’t know how to explain it, but we just don’t think her name really suits her.”
The mother of three continued: “So we’re changing that. When we go to doctor’s appointments, or when family or whoever calls her Murphy, it just doesn’t feel right. Kaci then shared that there was a name her kids had called the baby since they got back from the hospital that they fell in love with. We’re going to mail all the documents today and I know we’re going to get some backlash and some rude comments, but I just realized that our baby having a name we love is so much more important than the internet thinks.”
She continued, “You can say we’re crazy because we probably are, but now that she’s been here a week and I’m no longer heavily medicated, we’ve really been able to spend time with her and see how sweet she is. We have the perfect new name for her!”
In a video shared a little later, Kaci revealed that she and Casey decided to name their daughter Honey, which means honey. She shared: “My darling baby’s name is Honey. Sweet as honey. Doesn’t she look like a Honey? She seems. I know not everyone will like it, but that’s okay, because she’s our baby it suits her.”
Despite saying they were prepared for some negative comments, commenters on the posts were particularly harsh on parents. One person wrote: “You say she doesn’t look like a Murphy, so she’s not a golden retriever? Dog name.” A second added: “Does anyone look like a Murphy? Haha” While a third pointed out: “Murphy is the name of a male puppy.”
After hearing the baby’s new name, people were also divided. One man wrote: “I worked with a grown woman named Honey. I felt weird every time I had to call her by her name. I never got used to it.” However, many viewers loved the choice. One woman celebrated: “Honey is a beautiful name that I love. 100 times better than Murphy. She is adorable. Congratulations.”
