Pregnant Karolaine Vieira Magalhães Palermo was on her way to a maternity hospital in Cuiabá when the accident occurred that took the lives of her, her son and her mother, on Tuesday afternoon (7) on BR-70, in Cáceres.
Ivonete Vieira Magalhães Palermo, 46 years old, Karoline’s mother, died at the scene of the accident after being thrown when the vehicle they were in broke in half.
Rafael Marquioreto Remédio, the pregnant woman’s husband, was driving an Onix.
When entering a curve on the route, he lost control of the steering and entered the oncoming lane, hitting a VW TCross that was traveling in the opposite direction.
According to the Civil Police, the Onix was possibly speeding when the driver entered the curve.
It was drizzling at the time of the accident.
According to the local press, Karoline was on her way to Cuiabá to give birth.
She was 9 months pregnant and reportedly underwent an emergency cesarean section following the collision. The baby didn’t survive either.
The case generated commotion and the City Hall of the city where the family lived, Glória D’Oeste, declared three days of official mourning.
