São Paulo – The government of São Paulo confirmed this Sunday (5/11) the seventh death as a result of the rains that hit different regions of the state last Friday (5/11). The case occurred in Ilhabela, on the north coast of the state. A vessel sank, and one of the crew did not survive. Two others were rescued and taken to the health service.
In addition to this case, two people died in the east zone of São Paulo after trees fell on vehicles. The same happened in Osasco and Suzano, in Greater São Paulo.
In Santo André, in the ABC region, a person died after the wall fell from the 18th floor of a building under construction. And in Limeira, in the interior of the state, the victim was hit by a wall.
During the storm, there were more than a thousand calls for falling trees in the metropolitan region of the capital, two calls for flooding and 46 for collapses.
Civil Defense also responded to around one hundred collapses across the state, involving damage to walls, houses and the destruction of buildings.
The state and municipal Civil Defenses and the Fire Department recorded more than 2,000 calls for incidents in 40 cities. So far, there is no forecast of new storms and gales for the next few days.
