Phil Parkinson’s men hit the road again this weekend with a break from league action as attention turns to the Emirates FA Cup.
It’s the first time the Club has entered this stage of the competition since 2007 and took on familiar opposition in Mansfield Town.
The two clubs met earlier last month in Sky Bet League Two and played out a goalless draw at the One Call Stadium.
The Red Dragons reached round four of the competition last season, while the Stags bowed out in the second round proper.
In an evening kick-off in Nottinghamshire, the game will be broadcast live on S4C and ESPN+ worldwide.
THE RECAP
Elliot Lee and Ollie Palmer capped off a superb victory against Notts County at Meadow Lane as the Red Dragons extended their unbeaten run in Sky Bet League Two.
It was always going to be a tightly-contested affair with a clash of styles by last season’s record-breaking National League promotion winners.
Now in the EFL, they have both had success so far this season with both clubs in second and third place respectively.
Arthur Okonkwo was forced into making several smart stops in the first half, with Macaulay Langstaff being denied from a close-range header.
The Red Dragons were dealt three key blows in the build-up as Ryan Barnett and Eoghan O’Connell were out injured, and Jordan Tunnicliffe got injured in the warm-up.
However, the back five resolutely defended and stopped the Magpies’ attack in their tracks.
The game was decided in a matter of minutes in the second half, with Elliot Lee’s deflected strike looping over Sam Slocombe, and Ollie Palmer finishing smartly into the bottom corner to wrap up the victory.
It was a hard-fought battling performance, but one which galvanized the traveling fans and secured an important victory.
EYE ON THE OPPOSITION
Nigel Clough’s men have started this season in fine form, and they remain unbeaten in Sky Bet League Two.
They fell to their first defeat of the season in all competitions in midweek with a 1-0 defeat in the Carabao Cup to Port Vale.
Their top goalscorer, former Red Davis Keillor-Dunn, has bagged eight so far this season and remains a constant threat in the final third.
The ex-Wrexham man is a danger alongside Josh Maris, and Lucas Akins also poses a big goalscoring threat.
They have picked up plenty of impressive results in the league so far, including a 3-2 victory against Stockport County where Keillor-Dunn scored twice.
After defeat in midweek, Nigel Clough spoke to the press and explained he hopes his side can bounce back immediately tomorrow night.
He said: “The most important thing now is to quickly put this behind us. We mustn’t dwell on it. We need to get ready for Wrexham on Saturday now and do everything we can to get through in the FA Cup.”
