Athena Crosby decided to open up about his friendship with Matthew Perry after speculation that he may have used drugs or some type of narcotics before he died, last Saturday (28). The reporter, who had lunch with him 24 hours before the incident, explained, in an interview with Fox, that he was in a good phase of life.

“He was 100% sober when he passed away. I mean, I can’t know exactly what he was thinking or feeling [na hora da morte]. I can only share my experience. In the interaction I had with him, he was extremely positive, sober, acting normally, spoke very well, he did not give me the impression that he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol of any kind. So I think people are speculating that it was a relapse situation. I just want to defend him and say it wasn’t,” she said.

This is in line with initial autopsy results, in which a drug test was performed that confirmed Matthew had no signs of fentanyl or methamphetamine in his body. Someone close to the actor also confirmed that he was sober.

In another interview, Athenna revealed that Matthew was working on a biopic at the time of his death. He even had an actor in mind to play him.

Drug and opioid addiction

Matthew has dealt with addiction throughout his life and has spoken openly about his experiences in his recent biography, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. After his death, some began to speculate that he had relapsed. Now, one of his friends is responding.

Throughout his life, Matthew underwent rehabilitation at least fifteen times, and in one of them he was on ECMO, a support device that functions as an artificial lung and/or heart.

Death of Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry was found dead last Saturday (28). He was 54 years old. According to new data released by Page Six, In the situation, a man spoke of “rescue 23” and “drowning” when calling the ambulance. Much of the recording was deleted before being made public.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department told Page Six on Monday that firefighters arrived at Perry’s residence at 4:07 p.m. local time and found “an adult male unconscious in a freestanding hot tub.”

“The deputy placed the man’s head above the water and brought him to the edge, then firefighters removed him upon arrival,” said the Los Angeles Fire Department representative. He added: “A quick medical assessment unfortunately revealed that he had died before rescuers arrived.”

According to Page six, rescuers didn’t even try to revive him, because when they arrived at the scene “he was no longer responding.”
