The community of São Francisco, in the interior of Nova Veneza, has been celebrating since the weekend. The student at Escola Básica Municipal Líbero Uggioni, Pedro Henrique Faustino da Silvaaged 14, went to Brasília at the weekend and won the gold medal in the javelin throw and the silver medal in the relay during the Brazilian School Athletics Championship.
The event was attended by athletes from all over Brazil. Now, the student’s challenge is to represent Brazil in the South American School Championship, which will be held in Chile. The director and coach of the athletics team at the Municipal Sports Department (DME), Roberto Bortolottohighlights the athlete’s dedication.
“It’s a very difficult achievement, Pedro competed with the best athletes in the country and he was the best in the competition. It is the result of a lot of work and dedication from the athlete, who is from the interior of the city, started in schools and moved up to the performance team and is only reaping the rewards”, he highlights.
For the school, the achievement of the student, who in addition to training, dedicates himself to his studies, is a source of great pride. “This achievement by student Pedro Henrique Faustino represents teamwork, education and sport committed to doing quality work, encouraging students to believe in their potential and pursue their goals”, celebrates the director of Líbero Uggioni, Suzana Catarina Piazza.
Faustino, in addition to his school commitments, trains three times a week, on the athletics track, after school. “The achievement is the result of a lot of work and I had a lot of support from professor Roberto Bortolotto, who prepared me for this competition. We had already been preparing and I am very happy with the achievement and the way it came. Now, the focus will be full on the competition in Chile, which will also be very difficult”, he comments.
And the athlete will have little time to rest, as the international competition, in Chile, will take place next month, between the 4th and 9th of December.
