In testimony, the girlfriend of Erick Luciano Santos Lopes, 22, reported that the young man was killed after trying to break up a fight, motivated by the attempted theft of a bicycle. The boy was murdered in the early hours of this Thursday (2), in the Blue Danube region.
According to the woman’s report, Erick was involved in the fight, which happened around 8:30 pm. This was because he was trying to protect two friends, who were being beaten by a 25-year-old boy.
The fight allegedly started because one of Erick’s friends caught the 25-year-old boy trying to steal his bicycle. After the argument and attacks, Erick intervened and ended up being threatened with death by the suspect.
At around 9 pm, Erick and his girlfriend were at home, when the 25-year-old boy and his 27-year-old brother passed by the place. They would have driven by several times, making new threats and the 55-year-old stepfather would also be in the vehicle.
At one point, the car stopped in front of the house, when one of the suspects got out and opened the window of the room where the couple was staying. Erick left the room and came across the perpetrator, who fired a shot.
According to the girlfriend, she heard another shot. The police showed her a photo of the 27-year-old man, who she recognized as the gunman. He was not found.
During the search, the military police spoke to the authors’ mother. She reported that her husband had taken the 25-year-old boy to the UPA (Emergency Care Unit) Nova Bahia, due to the injuries suffered in the fight.
The boy and his stepfather ended up being arrested for participating in the homicide. The case is being investigated as an intentional homicide carried out in conjunction with two or more people and characterized by an ambush or other resource that makes the victim’s defense difficult.
