Brazil competed in the individual table tennis finals at the Pan American Games in Santiago. This Wednesday, Hugo Calderano won the gold medal in the men’s group by beating Cuban Andy Pereira Diaz 4-0, 11-3, 11-8, 11-5 and 11-4.

With this afternoon’s achievement, the table tennis player from Rio reached his sixth gold medal in the Pan-American tournament. In total, there are five golds — three in the individual — and one silver. The Brazilian, who won his third consecutive championship this Wednesday, is in fourth place in the world ranking of the sport.
Among women, Bruna Takahashi lost the grand final to Puerto Rican Adriana Díaz, 4-3, with an upset — 11-8, 12-14, 3-11, 11-8, 11-8, 9- 11 and 7-11, and took silver. The match lasted 54 minutes.
With the medals in table tennis, Brazil reached 133 totals at the Pan American Games in Santiago. The country has 38 gold, 53 silver and 42 bronze medals.
