App driver is found dead in the West Zone of Rio

An app driver was found dead in the trunk of his own car in the West Zone of Rio this Wednesday (1st).

The body of José Deuzimar Rodrigues Veras, aged 68, was found in the Rio das Pedras neighborhood, in Jacarepaguá. Military police officers from the 18th BPM (Jacarepaguá) isolated the area for examination by the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), which is investigating the case.

The elderly man’s children used social media to mourn their father’s death, and recalled their mother’s recent departure.

“Almost a year ago I lost my mother, and I clung with all my strength to the wonderful father she gave me. Today, in a cruel way, some soulless being kidnapped and killed my hero, destroyed my life, and what was left of our family”, wrote Camila Veras.

The son used a graduation photo to say goodbye to his father.

“I believe that I was a son who made you proud, just as you were my hero. I love you and I will always love you, take care of me up there with my mother”, posted Adriano Veras.

Camila demands justice for her father’s violent death.

“I just want justice. I find myself in darkness. You promised me dad that you would live to be 200 years old with me, but I understand that it wasn’t your choice, my heart is broken. I ask that you, together with my mother, watch over me from above, that now you will live together for all eternity”, she laments.

The elderly man had disappeared in the early afternoon of Tuesday (31) and, according to residents, his car was used on the same day by suspects. The Civil Police reported that investigations are underway to investigate all the circumstances.
