According to information from the Highway Police Battalion (BPRv), a city garrison was sent to the location, more precisely, in Povoado Mundo Novo, to isolate the region and control the flow of vehicles. The incident even occurred in the construction area of the road duplication.
The accident left a man, a woman and a male child dead, and involved a green Pálio vehicle, license plate NMD-6024, Maceió, and a white Hilux, license plate QLM-5H96, Brazil. The victims lived at Residencial Agreste, in Arapiraca.
The driver was identified as José Mathias da Silva, 78 years old. The other occupants who did not survive their injuries are Maria Elba Teixeira, aged 43, and the child, just 3 years old, JLT
The Palio was traveling in the direction of Arapiraca – Jaramataia and the driver of the other vehicle was traveling in the opposite direction of the road, when he entered the wrong lane and both collided head-on.
After the accident, the occupants of the Hilux fled, according to BPRv.
Ambulances from the Military Fire Department (CBM) and the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) were called, but the victims were already dead.
