23-year-old driver dies after car falls 50 meters down a cliff in Rancho Queimado

A 23-year-old driver died this Wednesday (1st) after the car he was driving fell into a cliff, in Rancho Queimado. The accident would have occurred during the early hours of the morning, but the vehicle was only found around 3 pm by the Santa Catarina Fire Department.

After locating the car, which was 50 meters below road level, the driver was already dead. According to the Fire Department, the vehicle was in a difficult to access location.

“For the first access, the crew had to descend at anchor with rescue material from a height, where they managed to reach the vehicle”

The driver was reportedly thrown from the vehicle during the accident. He was five meters below the car on the embankment.

“To rescue the body, the garrison carried out a trail along another route, with a lower slope, where, with the support of the garrison of ABTR 43 from Santo Amaro da Imperatriz and BRAVO 08 from Rancho Queimado, an envelope stretcher and system with force reduction were used to assist in the removal”, informed the corporation.
