Head-on collision in rural Arapiraca leaves three dead
A car accident this Wednesday (1st) in Arapiraca left three dead, two adults and a 3-year-old child. According to the Highway Police Battalion (BPRv), the three victims were in the same vehicle.
The head-on collision took place on AL-220, in Povoado Mundo Novo, a rural area of the municipality. According to BPRv, a Palio and a Hilux collided head-on in the section where the highway is being doubled.
When the military arrived at the scene, they found the bodies of the 3-year-old boy and his mother, Maria Elba Teixeira, 43, in the front passenger seat. The other adult who died was driving the car. He was identified as José Mathias da Silva, 78 years old.
The driver of the Hilux was not found at the scene of the accident. There is no information about his health status.
The Fire Department was called to remove the bodies of the victims from inside the vehicle, which were stuck to the hardware.
