Carnival loses another exponent. The carnival worker died on Tuesday, October 31 Roberto Szaniecki, one day after turning 62 years old. Born in Poland, he had been facing health problems in recent years and the cause of death was not disclosed. However, it is known that the artist suffered from Diabetes and struggled with depression.

In Rio de Janeiro Roberto signed works at Salgueiro, União da Ilha, Mangueira, Portela, Inocentes, Unidos da Ponte and Estácio de Sá. His last work in Cidade Maravilhosa was in 2013, in Grande Rio, with the plot “I love Rio and I’m going to fight: black gold without dispute”, finishing in sixth place.
In Sao Paulo, Szaniecki he was champion at Gaviões da Fiel, in 1999, with the plot “The Hidden Prince or the Search for Dom Sebastião on the Island of São Luís do Maranhão”. He also won at Império de Casa Verde, in 2006, with the plot “From the Mystic Boi to the Real Boi – From Garcia D’Ávila in Bahia to Nellore – The Ox that eats grass – The livestock saga in Brazil for the World”. Roberto he still worked at Tom Maior and held his last fashion show in 2016 at the traditional Nenê de Vila Matilde, with a tribute to the Claudia Raia. with the plot “Nenê presents her musical: Rainha Raia nas asas do carnival”. The group came in ninth place.
Kitty and goodbyes
Just over two years ago, friends of the carnival artist created an online fundraiser to raise funds and help the artist, at the time, hospitalized at Hospital Miguel Couto, in Rio de Janeiro, to treat a chronic illness.
Associations in which he worked paid tribute. Salgueiro highlighted the trajectory of the artist and the queen of the drums, Viviane Araújo lamented: “Great Szaniecki! Rest in peace!”
Despite not having passed through Unidos da Tijuca, the Rio samba school also spoke out and mourned the death of the Polish carnival artist.
Vila Isabel expressed its regret: “ Unidos de Vila Isabel expresses its deep regret at the death of carnival artist Roberto Szaniecki”.
Unidos do Viradouro also commented: “ Unidos do Viradouro regrets the death of carnival artist Robeto Szaniecki. We wish all the strength to our friends and family. There is a great legacy in our Carnival. Rest in peace”.
