It’s not hard to imagine that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will use several assets presented by the first game, mainly because both have New York as a scenario, facilitating a side by side comparison like what the ElAnalistaDeBit channel usually does. Check out what changes between the two Insomniac Games titles in the video below.
The channel compared the first gameplay trailer for Spider-Man 2, revealed yesterday during the PlayStation Showcase, with Spider-Man Remastered for PS5. Despite the two games using the same city, the video begins by highlighting that the designs of the buildings have undergone some changes, and shows that some of them now have more windows and in different formats.
With side-by-side, it’s very notable that the new game offers considerably faster gameplay, with Spider-Man swinging more quickly between buildings. This causes asset loading issues, as seen with buildings carrying trees on top, to appear.
More realistic shadow, lighting and reflection
Spider-Man 2 will offer more realistic shadows and lighting than the previous game. Even the “Miranha” webs will have shadows now, something simple, but that makes the scene more filled. The lighting of the indoor locations was also readjusted, with external light entering indoor spaces, making the scene more realistic. Allied to this, reflections will also be more detailed.
Some gameplay scenes of the new game show some distant assets with low resolution, something that does not happen in the previous title. In an exact comparison, starting at 5:13 of the video, the channel noticed that a building (which exists in Spider-Man Remastered) does not have reflective textures, in addition to the buildings in the background with a low amount of detail.
With the release window for the third quarter of this year, it’s easy to imagine that what was shown of the new game should not be referring to a build closer to final development.
Spider-Man 2 will have a lot of improvements compared to the previous two games, with new neighborhoods like Queens, the port area much more populated, in addition to other small details, although it features a major downgrade in a specific scene shown in the reveal trailer for Spider-Man 2. game and presented at the end of this comparison.
