The team was in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Newfoundland. The impact was sudden and the crew on board was thrown forward.
Frenchman Charlie Dalin has a suspected mild concussion and media crew member Amory Ross (USA) injured his shoulder. The race doctor on duty, Dr. Spike Briggs, spoke to the sailors aboard the boat over the phone.
Despite the scare, the two sailors are fine and their closest relatives have been informed of what happened. After the accident, the crew reduced the speed of the boat to check if it was still in ideal conditions to follow the competition.
The other three sailors on board were not injured. Captain Charlie Enright (USA), navigator Simon Fisher (GBR) and trimmer Justine Mettraux (SUI) continue sailing towards the final destination in Aarhus, Denmark.
